Quo Vadis to relaunch with double the number of covers

The Jeremy Lee-led restaurant on Dean Street will close on 2 January next year and reopen after a makeover on 8 February with the available number of covers doubled to 40.

The reception area is also undergoing a refurbishment and a downsizing to create a grander and more spacious public restaurant, befitting the cooking of Quo Vadis’ chefs, according to owner Harts Group.

Design for the reimagined space is being led by co-owner James Hart, with the dining room to be upholstered with red Georgian style dining sofas and a reclaimed Georgian wood floor. The building’s revolving door will be removed to create a ‘welcoming, though no less arresting, entrance’. The door will be painted ‘Red Stallion II’ and have a large brass knocker.

The stained-glass windows, which are not as ‘original’ or ‘vintage’ as people assume, the group says, will remain in part and one of the ‘Seven Noses of Soho,’ which appears on Quo Vadis’ exterior, will retain its place. The exterior will also benefit from the addition of a new black and white striped awning, emblazoned with the QV monogram.

The QV Club will not be affected by the closure of the restaurant.
