D&D London shutters Bristol restaurant Klosterhaus - updated
The restaurant launched in September 2020 in the south west city’s Grade I-listed Quakers Friars building a short walk from Cabot Circus.
In a statement, D&D London said: "Unfortunately, trading has been challenging and with the current economic challenges including spiralling utility, food and beverage costs and the unstable labour market we have sadly, after much consideration, decided to cease trading in this restaurant.
"D&D restaurants, however, continue to trade well have had a very positive December despite the ongoing industrial disputes effecting transport."
Spread over two floors, Klosterhaus served a menu that paid homage to grand mittel-European cafes with a menu that included soused herring with herring caviar, sweet mustard, potato and apple salad; German chicken and veal schnitzels; and slow-roasted Creedy Carver free range duck, potato dumpling, braised red cabbage.
The news comes after D&D London placed several of its UK sites on the market late last year after a ‘review’ of its portfolio.
As well as Klosterhaus, the tranche of sites on the market includes Issho and East 59th in Leeds, and 100 Wardour Street, Avenue, Cantina and the Blueprint Café in London.
