Gino D’Acampo is to open a new upmarket Italian restaurant and bar at the recently refurbished Leeds Marriott Hotel, as he plots further expansion in the UK and internationally.

The opening comes under a new partnership between Gino D’Acampo Hotels & Leisure, Marriott Hotels International and Hamilton-Pyramid Europe, and is the chef and TV personality's sixth UK opening in less than two years.

Designed by international restaurant designer Bernard Carroll and set to open in the spring, Gino D’Acampo at Leeds Marriott Hotel will feature a marble bar complete with lounge area, cicchetti bar, deli, 160-seat open plan restaurant, and outdoor terrace.

The all-day menu will encompass 'classic Italian dishes', with hotel guests also able to order in-room dining prepared by the restaurant.

“I couldn’t be more pleased to announce plans for Gino D’Acampo at Leeds Marriott Hotel,” says D’Acampo.

“I have a long relationship with the city having opened one of my first restaurants in Leeds almost eight years ago and I’m thrilled to return with the opening of my new upmarket Italian restaurant and bar, which I promise will be something else.

”We’ve been looking for the perfect location for some time and at Leeds Marriott Hotel we have found it.”

In the last two years D’Acampo's hotel and leisure company has launched several restaurants in the UK, the majority under partnership with Spanish hotel brand INNSiDE by Meliá.

The group's decision to partner with Marriott reflects a wider strategy to open further upmarket restaurants in major UK and affluent suburbs, with the chef also hinting about plans to open his first international location.
