‘Our time in the sun has come to an end’ – Hackney’s Bright and P.Franco close
In an Instagram post, the Hackney-based group, which was principally led by Liam Kelleher and Phil Bracey, confirmed that the three businesses had now closed and would not be reopening.
However, there were no details on what had led to the group’s decision to shutter its entire estate.
“Our hearts are broken, and we are devastated to be making this post,” the group said.
“In short — our time in the sun has come to an abrupt and sudden end, we have closed the doors at Noble Fine Liquor, P.Franco and Bright for the final time and they will not be re-opening.
“There are many complex ins-and-outs that have resulted in the position that we’re in, we don’t feel this is the forum or time to go through those things in detail.
“Our focus at this stage is to try to do right by our staff and suppliers whilst we try to navigate our way down a path we never thought we’d have to walk.”
It comes after the group closed its other neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar, Peg, last summer.
The group paid tribute to its staff and customers, as well as the food and wine community of London and beyond.
“We thank you all for the assistance and encouragement you have given us over the past 10 years across our different venues.”
Bright opened in 2018 and was a regular on the Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards top 100 list. Most recently it ranked at number 41, and was celebrated as being ‘a clever and shining example of what a restaurant should be’.
