Sushi Shop has expanded its estate in the capital with the opening of a venue in Clapham.

The sushi and sashimi brand, which is owned by multi-brand restaurant operator AmRest, has secured a new franchisee partner for the opening of the Northcote Road venue.

The group operates five sites in London, in Richmond, Marylebone, Notting Hill, Hampstead, and Old Brompton, as well as one in Brighton on North Street.

Menu items include a limited-edition Upside Down Sushi Box in partnership with Netflix series Stranger Things that includes upside down rolls, salmon sushi, avocado cheese maki rolls, cooked tuna avocado spring rolls, and prawn spring rolls, as well as hot dishes including ramen, yakisoba, yakitori, gyoza, and curries.

Sushi Shop has been part of AmRest since 2018 and has an international network of company-operated and franchised stores across nine countries.

“We are delighted to have secured a new franchisee for AmRest, to help expand the Sushi Shop brand across the UK, and look forward to securing additional partners in 2023,” says Simon Chaplin, senior director – pubs, restaurants and franchise at Christie & Co, which is leading Sushi Shop’s franchisee acquisition project

“Sushi Shop has a wide appeal by providing a fresh, healthy food option that is well suited to all meal categories, be it lunch, dinner, snack or occasion dining, just right for today’s consumer.”
