Sichuan and Cantonese restaurant House of Ming will open later this month within St. James’ Court, A Taj Hotel.

As first revealed by Restaurant back in January, the new restaurant will be the second House of Ming, joining its debut location in the Taj Mahal Hotel New Delhi.

The menu is inspired by the New Delhi restaurant with dishes specific to London. It will feature an extensive dim sum selection including prawn truffle siu mai; and crispy taro and oyster dumpling; as well as classics such as char siu bao; and sticky rice.

Small plates will include salt and pepper water chestnut; stuffed crab claws; crispy fried fish with chilli and oyster sauce; and BBQ lamb with cumin and chilli.

Larger plates will include stir fried lobster; king prawns with XO sauce; and signature dish flaming duck. There will also be an imperial dining option comprising a 17-course menu, designed to be enjoyed in the private dining room (pictured above).

The restaurant will open under the direction of executive chef Sujoy Gupta and Hong Kong born head chef Dickson Leung, as well as food and beverage Manager Asif Bajwa.

The 56-cover House of Ming is reminiscent of the famous Ming Dynasty and has been created by designer Atelier Wren. It will feature antique brass and handcrafted furniture and red lacquer with ceiling designs inspired by Chinese silk screen painting from the Ming dynasty

The dining room will also feature two sets of bespoke ‘love seats’, with their own curtain. The two-seater area will feature a brass button that discreetly calls the kitchen for a unique surprise.
