Mission Mars will open its Albert’s Schloss venue in London next spring on the former Rainforest Café site on Shaftesbury Avenue.

As first revealed by Restaurant in December, it will be the fourth venue of the ‘cook haus and beer palace’ brand and the first in the south of England.

Taking over the Jungle Cave site, the 18,000sq ft venue will involve an £8m investment and will be the brand’s biggest venue to date, creating 200 jobs.

The venue will have space for 500 covers in the restaurant, which will serve an Alpine-inspired menu, four bars measuring over 45 metres in length, and a stage for live bands, cabaret and gospel choirs.

It will host live entertainment every day of the week.

On the lower ground floor will be Ludwig’s Tavern, an Alpine-inspired chalet designed to be a tribute to ‘Mad King Ludwig’ of Bavaria and which will have ‘whimsical design elements as well as roaring fires, shuffleboard and other tavern games’.

“The Trocadero has a long and rich history of hosting world renowned restaurants, bars and theatres,” says Roy Ellis, CEO of Mission Mars.

“As in other cities, Schloss will recruit the best artistic talent available and offer totally unique and unlike anywhere else entertainment seven days a week.”

Created in ode to their muse, Prince Albert, Queen Victoria’s beloved husband who championed truth, beauty, freedom and love, Albert’s Schloss is said to celebrate the prince’s values. Mission Mars currently operates Albert’s Schloss venues in Manchester, Birmingham, and most recently Liverpool, which launched in December 2022.
