Richard Caring's Caprice Holdings is taking its Sexy Fish brand to Manchester for its second UK outpost, which it claims will hold the ‘largest Champagne collection in the country’.

The long-rumoured Spinningfields restaurant is scheduled to open in the autumn and will follow the style of the group’s flagship in London’s Mayfair with opulent interior elements including a collection of fish lamps from architect Frank Gehry; a Verde Esmerelda stone floor; and a series of glass columns created by Murano glassmakers.

There will also be artworks created for the space by international artist Damien Hirst; and a 18-cover bar of glowing pink onyx and glass, set against a backdrop of a cascading waterfall.

The launch of the Manchester restaurant follows Sexy Fish’s US expansion to Miami last year. The original Sexy Fish opened in Mayfair in 2015.

“Myself and the entire company are extremely excited to bring Sexy Fish to the vibrant and amazing city of Manchester this autumn,” says Caring.

“Manchester follows on from the successful restaurants in London and Miami. Caprice Holdings as a company has an affinity with the city, and we believe that Sexy Fish will be loved and enjoyed by the people of Manchester.”

Sexy Fish Manchester claims it will hold the ‘largest Champagne collection in the country’, which will be available alongside an extensive cocktail, wine and sake selection.

Chef director Bjoern Weissgerber will oversee the food, which will offer both à la carte and evening omakase menu options.

‘Signature’ dishes set to feature include a duck salad; smoked tuna belly; crispy eringi mushroom; black cod; and king crab.

The main dining room will hold 152 covers. There will also be a tropical reef-themed private dining room that will be able to cater for 45 seated guests or 60 standing and feature an aquarium of exotic fish.
