Over the past 12 months, McCain Foodservice Solutions (McCain FS) has enabled less advantaged, go-getting individuals to embark on a journey of opening their very own street food business through its Streets Ahead programme, powered by KERB+.

In June 2023 following two days of listening to business pitches, 12 participants received life-changing investment from McCain to pursue their dreams in foodservice.

What’s Next? Whilst McCain FS and KERB+ race into year two for Streets Ahead, they continue to follow the journeys of the winning participants and will be hosting a street food market for the winners to showcase their hard work by trading to the public, some for the first time.

Streets Ahead Market - 23rd September 2023

In partnership with KERB+ who create show-stopping street food markets across London, McCain FS provides continued support to the fledging entrepreneurs by providing them with the hands-on experience of trading at a busy Saturday market, some for the very first time. KERB+ are currently working closely with the new traders to make sure they are licensed, regulated, and investing that well-earned cash injection wisely.

“On behalf of McCain Foodservice Solutions, we're delighted to be able to support our first Streets Ahead cohort of successful hospitality entrepreneurs by creating an opportunity for them to trade at a bustling street food market. This gives participants hands on experience in the foodservice industry, a chance to refine their new skills and is a celebration of the launch of their own street food businesses. We look forward to sharing this spectacular showcase of food and encourage others in the industry to come along and support them at the event,” says Mark Hodge, McCain Foods marketing vice president.

For many of the newly invested businesses, the Streets Ahead Showcase Market will be their first market. The event will be ticketed at £10 for which visitors will receive two food vouchers and one Gipsy Hill brew. Each voucher is to be handed to the trader on the day in exchange for a half portion of their hero dish! Each ticket bought will provide two food vouchers so visitors can try a delicious portion from more than one of our talented new traders.

All of the ticket proceeds will go directly to the Streets Ahead traders! The event is open to everyone to help McCain FS celebrate and support these individuals on their journey into foodservice. McCain FS welcomes everyone to join us at the Streets Ahead showcase market powered by KERB+ this September.

With skill gaps and staffing issues prevalent in the foodservice industry, McCain FS founded the powerful social impact programme called Streets Ahead, with the aim of helping future generations of operators’ flourish.

Wrapping up 12 months of coaching, experience and development, June of this year saw 12 hopeful participants of the programme, pitch their street food business idea to a panel of McCain FS and KERB+ representatives. Participants brought an immense amount of passion, creativity, and willingness to the day. Find out more here.

The demonstration of raw talent combined with the skills learnt throughout the programme resulted in all 12 participants receiving life-changing investment. An incredible £100,000 was injected by McCain FS back into the foodservice industry which celebrates fresh new talent, skills and cooking styles.
