BKC (Biryani Kebab Chai) has opened its second restaurant in the capital, in Soho, with more in the pipeline.

The restaurant, which serves Indian cuisine from the Awadhi region, has opened on Moor Street as part of its planned expansion over the next couple of years.

The new site serves a more expansive menu than the original restaurant and is described as being an edgier, more modern evolution of the restaurant befitting of its Soho location.

Menu items include BKC classics alongside a selection of new dishes that include bhatti ka khargosh (chargrilled grilled rabbit legs infused with allspice and yoghurt); tandoori lobster infused with lime and pepper served with corn on the cob and raw mango chutney; and kathal ki shami (pan-seared jackfruit and walnut patties served with coriander chutney).

BKC was launched in September 2022 in Marble Arch by co-founder Jeet Mitra and executive chef Arsh Thakur and is known for its authentic Awadhi cuisine, originating from Awadh (modern-day Lucknow) in northern India

“BKC is so close to my heart as I have been eating this style of food since I developed my taste buds as a kid. Being in this industry for 20 years has afforded me the privilege to open BKC, and I hope to convey my passion and culture to the people of the UK in coming years,” says Mitra.
