The team behind The Tamil Prince in Islington is opening a second pub and restaurant next month.

Called The Tamil Crown, it will open on 18 November on Elia Street in Angel on the site that was previously the Charles Lamb Pub, as first reported by Hot Dinners.

In keeping with the original The Tamil Prince, which was opened to acclaim by former Roti King chef Prince Durairaj and ex-JKS general manager Glen Leeson last year, The Tamil Crown will serve a drink-friendly menu of south Indian dishes.

The menu will be split into small plates and large plates, with options to include okra fries; onion bhaji; lime leaf roasted chicken and pineapple chutney; and beef masala uttapam and spicy coconut chutney.

Larger dishes, meanwhile, will include aubergine curry, robata lamb chops, Chettinad lamb curry; and coconut prawn moilee.

There will also be a solid range of bar snacks including the likes of chicken lollipop; samosa; and shoestring masala fries.

Durairaj was recently named by Restaurant as one of 19 UK chefs to watch.
