The team behind cocktail bar MAP Maison in London and MAP Petite Maison in Stockholm are opening a restaurant with rooms in east London this month.

Called La Bibliothèque, the restaurant will have three bedrooms and is described as being the first luxury accommodation available in Haggerston when it opens on 26 October.

The restaurant will be led by head chef James Mayle, whose CV includes time at Fera at Claridge’s, The Dairy in Clapham, and Relae in Copenhagen, with sous chef James O’Malley, formally of The Dairy, Lyle’s and The Laughing Heart.

It will serve a seasonal menu with Mediterranean and Japanese influences with dishes to include snacks such as milk bread accompanied with a range of butters including whipped brown miso, toasted sesame, and crispy shallot and sake lees; and starters including kombu braised lamb shoulder with whipped onion soubise and fermented negi onion; and mains of steamed turbot with a king prawn farci, sauce bouillabaisse and soft herbs.

Upstairs will be a private dining room with adjoining outdoor terrace with a capacity for up to 10 seated inside.

The venue will also have a bar, headed up by Global Bars Manager Melissa Frangi. Signature cocktails will include the Tokinoka made up of Ukiyo rice vodka, clarified pandan and coconut water; the Honshin containing 135 East Hyogo gin, Akashi Tay Honjozo sake, and La Tomato Liqueur; and Memories made up of yuzu sorbet, Japanese gin and sparkling sake.
