Middle East-based Japanese dining concept CLAP is to make its UK debut later this year in London’s Knightsbridge.

Located close to Harrods and the newly refurbished Knightsbridge tube station, the 9,731sq ft restaurant will be spread over three floors and feature a rooftop bar and lounge alongside a main dining room, and a ground floor café.

Noriyoshi Muramatsu, founder of Studio Glitt, is overseeing the design, which will feature ‘a playful, yet chic, contemporary aesthetic’ and include an open kitchen within the main restaurant space.

Founded by Addmind Hospitality, CLAP currently operates three restaurants across the Middle East in Dubai, Riyadh and Beirut, the latter of which has previously featured on the Middle East and North Africa’s 50 Best Restaurants list.

“Bringing CLAP to London is an exhilarating milestone for Addmind Hospitality,” says Tony Habre, Group CEO of Addmind Hospitality, which also operates Soho restaurant Sucre in the capital.

“We are thrilled to introduce this Beirut-born concept to the vibrant city of London. Our team has been working tirelessly to ensure that CLAP in Knightsbridge meets the same exceptional standards and popularity as it has in Beirut, Dubai and Riyadh.”

Leading the kitchen of CLAP London will be culinary director Renald Epie, whose menu will ‘draw upon the traditions and flavours of Japan’ with a range of sushi and sashimi dishes available.

Other options set to feature on the menu include Hokkaido scallops and foie gras; wagyu beef tartare and biwa caviar; roasted tamara king crab leg; and pistachio crusted baby chicken with yuzu and daikon.

“At Addmind, we believe in the power of an incredible team, and I couldn't be prouder of the dedication and passion they have poured into this project,” continues Habre.

“This fourth location marks a significant achievement for us, and we are excited to share the unique experience of CLAP with Londoners and visitors alike.

“We hope that CLAP will be a great addition to the London culinary scene, and we are proud of the concept and the community it has created.”
