New 'evolved' SOLA to reopen next month

Michelin-starred Californian restaurant SOLA will reopen on Thanksgiving Day following its closure for refurbishment.

The Soho-based restaurant, which ranked 40th in the UK’s 100 Best Restaurants list at the 2023 National Restaurant Awards, closed in September to undergo a refurbishment to double its size, with an enlarged dining room and new lower-ground floor with lounge and private-dining spaces.

The restaurant will be open for dinner only on Tuesdays and for lunch and dinner Wednesday to Saturday, with a choice of three menus created by chef-patron Victor Garvey, head chef Andy Parker, and head pastry chef Megan Stafford.

It will serve a new lunch menu at £59 for three courses, plus canapés and mignardises; as well as a six-course tasting menu at £149, and an eight-course Grand Tour at £199, both of which include canapés, snacks, mignardises and chocolates to take home, and which are available at lunch and dinner.

SOLA’s food offer will also evolve, leaning more heavily into North American influences, according to Garvey.

“The goal of SOLA has always been to showcase the best of American food through the lens of fine dining. While Andy, Megan and I have always tried to do so, we have occasionally gotten distracted along the way."
"With this brand-new iteration of SOLA, we plan to really delve into the American food that I’ve known since birth - exploring, deconstructing, and reinterpreting regional cuisine from both coasts and in-between.

“My Spanish and French heritage will always play a part in how I cook, as will my deep love of Japanese cuisine, but, with our expanded kitchen and infrastructure, we are now confident enough to really push the limits.”

SOLA will reopen on 23 November.
