Liverpool-based independent restaurant and cafe LEAF will open a spin-off smaller site in the city next month.

Called Little LEAF it will open in Old Hall Street in Liverpool’s business district in the group’s sister venue One Fine Day and is described as ‘distilling the essence of its bigger siblings on a more intimate scale’.

Opening on 6 November, it will serve breakfast and lunch Monday to Friday with a menu that is expected to be similar to its other locations. Dishes served at its existing sites include full English, vegetarian and vegan breakfasts as well as cinnamon toast and US style pancakes, a range of burgers and flatbreads, pasta dishes and soups, salads and sandwiches.

It will be the group’s fourth venue under the LEAF brand joining its venues in locations in Bold Street (pictured below), Smithdown Road, and West Kirby. The group also operates dining and events space OH ME OH MY on the city’s waterfront.

The first LEAF was opened in Bold Street in 2010 by siblings Natalie and Graham Haywood following successful pop-ups in Static Gallery and Parliament Street.

“It feels surreal that we are reaching our 15th anniversary in November and it’s the perfect time to open Little LEAF,” says Natalie.

“We’ve been thinking how to expand what we do and whilst maintaining our core values as a business, so to launch a smaller scale version of LEAF is giving us new momentum and ideas.

“Seeing how we have grown with our customers is what underpins who we are and what we do. The origins of LEAF were simple – we wanted to honour and celebrate tea in all its forms which back in 2008 was sorely lacking in Liverpool, to reinvent the idea of a tearooms and that culture. And since those early days, we still take great pride now in curating communities under one roof and this is down to the dedication and creativity of our all our staff and the fellow independents we love working with.”
