Artfarm opens Mayfair wine bar
Following December’s launch of Farm Shop, the independent hospitality company behind Roth Bar & Grill, the Fife Arms Hotel and Mount St. Restaurant has launched the subterranean 35-cover wine bar to extend it beyond its retail offer.
It offers a 200-bin wine list, with around 40 wines available by the glass, starting from £4.50 for a glass of tempranillo, up to £58 for a glass of Tignanello, 2011. The drinks menu also includes the company’s Maid of Bruton Bacchus, rosé, and sparkling rosé, created from grapes grown on the Somerset estate, Durslade cider from the orchard, as well as a variety of specially created house spirits including Farm Shop negroni, espresso martini and gin, made using waste by-products from Artfarm's properties Roth Bar & Grill and the Walled Garden.
The food menu features a selection of charcuterie including three different types of salami (white pepper and fennel, black truffle, sloe and garlic venison), coppa and bresaola, a selection of cheeses from the south west of England and Switzerland, served alongside house made dill pickled cucumbers, vegetable chutney, and piccalilli. Other dishes include minestrone soup; baked vacherin Mont d’Or; and steak tartare with sourdough toast.
The space has a variety of seating options from countertop stools to a central stone communal table recovered from Artfarm's Durslade Farm. The lower ground floor also houses individual, temperature-controlled rooms for wine and cheese.
All wines are available to purchase by the bottle and for takeaway.
The 4,000sq ft Far Shop occupies a site on the corner of South Audley Street and Aldford Street in Mayfair, close to sister property. Adjacent to the site is Artfarm’s Butcher Shop, a separate butchery room selling high welfare meat, including Durslade Farm’s own lamb and beef alongside rotisserie chicken. It is accessible through the shop, or via its own entrance on Aldford Street,
Artfarm was founded in 2014 by Iwan and Manuela Wirth, co-owners of art gallery Hauser & Wirth. That year, it opened its first restaurant, Roth Bar & Grill, as part of Hauser & Wirth Somerset. In 2018, it opened The Fife Arms in Braemar, Scotland, in a refurbished Victorian coaching inn.
Other Artfarm properties include Manuela restaurant in Los Angeles, Durslade Farmhouse and Durslade Farm Shop in Somerset, Mount St. Restaurant and The Audley Public House in London, and the recently opened Fish Shop restaurant and fishmonger in Ballater.
Artfarm also acquired The Groucho Club in 2022.
