London-based cheesecake specialist Whipped is to take up residence in Market Halls Victoria.

Announcing the move on Instagram, founders Alice Churchill and Jamie Musialek said: “We are a little bit excited.”

Whipped launched in 2018 and opened its first permanent site on Drury Lane in Covent Garden.

It subsequently relocated to a new site on nearby Bedfordbury, where it continues to trade alongside a concession stall within Selfridge’s department store in Mayfair.

Whipped serves a range of baked cheesecakes, sponge layer cakes and cookies, alongside a selection of hot drinks.

It’s arrival at Market Halls Victoria comes as the food hall operator, which also has sites in Canary Wharf and on Oxford Street, reported ‘record’ festive trading with like-for-like sales up 55% in December.

The group says sales were boosted by large corporate bookings; a high-profile appearance on BBC’s MasterChef: The Professionals; and an extensive Christmas campaign with a wealth of booking options including food and drink packages, live music, sushi rolling masterclasses and private dining options.

“We’ve had a truly excellent festive period and we’re delighted to have seen such phenomenal growth on last year,” says Andy Lewis-Pratt, CEO of Market Halls.

“It’s great to see demand for the food hall experience at an all time high. It goes without saying a huge well done to all of our teams working so hard over this time and for their part in delivering these amazing results. It really sets us up for another year of ambitious growth.”

Market Halls revealed in September last year that it intends to open two to three venues annually over the next five years in major cities and regional hubs across the UK.

Target cities include Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Liverpool, Leeds, Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
