Edinburgh burger institution to close after 52 years
The popular burger restaurant, which has been serving burgers and steaks since 1972 on St Stephen Street in Stockbridge, has announced it will close in March.
In a post of social media owners Micky and Suzie said the restaurant’s last service would be Saturday 23 March
Micky wrote: “Yes folks, TIMES UP!....Micky and Suzie are leaving the building. The institution that is Bells Diner.
“It's been a long association (35 years for me Micky) and running it for the last 10 yrs with Suzie. And yes, I will probably miss it. But the time is right.
“We'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to all our customers for all your support.”
Menu items at the restaurant include four, six and eight-ounce beef burgers as well as lamb, chicken, spicy bean, nut, mushroom, and falafel options with a choice of butters to melt over the burger, including garlic, pepper, rockfort (blue cheese, white wine and lemon juice), chilli and mustard. Other burger options include the addition of ingredients such as cheddar, Emmental, Mexican and applewood smoked cheeses, bacon, fried egg, haggis, black pudding and jalapenos.
Micky added that he unsure as to what the future held for the restaurant.
