The Gladwin Brothers' The Fat Badger closes
Announcing the closure on social media, the brothers said they had been unable to make the restaurant profitable.
They added that they had an ‘exciting new project in the pipeline’ that they will unveil in the future.
The Fat Badger was the pair’s fifth restaurant and continued their focus on sustainability serving ‘a distinctive take on traditional British dining’.
Ingredients were sourced directly from the Gladwins’ family farm and often foraged from the lands surrounding their vineyard in West Sussex.
“Local & Wild Restaurants are sad to announce that The Fat Badger has now closed,” they said in a statement.
“It has been a difficult decision but after 2 years trading, we have been unable to make the site profitable and we are just too small a business to support the losses. We have made many friends in the vibrant Richmond community - it has been a pleasure to host your birthdays, brunches, and Sunday lunches, as well as selling great British seasonal produce in our farm shop.”
All of the staff have been transferred into the group’s other restaurants, according to the pair, which include The Black Lamb in Wimbledon Village, The Shed in Notting Hill, Rabbit in Chelsea, and Sussex in Soho.
