A contemporary, chicken-focused restaurant is spreading its wings in Newcastle having acquired the former Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill site on Fenkle Street.

Set to launch in the spring, Social Bird will feature an all-day menu that majors in chicken schnitzels and burgers sourced locally from suppliers Soanes Poultry.

"We are thrilled to introduce Social Bird to Newcastle, bringing a place where every detail has been crafted to make you feel at home, and every bite a culinary delight,” says Emma Thompson, general manager at Social Bird.

“Social Bird is set to become a vibrant part of our local community, offering a unique and inviting space. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to experience the great hospitality and unique charm of Social Bird.”

Work is underway on transforming the restaurant space as part of a £2m refurbishment alongside its adjoining business, Hotel Indigo Newcastle, which is now under the ownership of KE Hotels.

Social Bird's interiors have been designed by Glasgow-based design studio Inca and will feature ‘earthy tones, green hues and timber accents’.

The dining room will include a stone top bar complemented by integrated lighting with suspended feature pendants; and varied seating options such as high tables and lounge chairs.

Open seven days a week, Social Bird is described as offering ‘an all-encompassing experience’ with the restaurant also set to feature live music and open mic nights.
