Team behind Tattu to open Italian-American restaurant Louis in Manchester
Being launched by Permanently Unique Group (PUG), the team behind Manchester restaurant Fenix and modern Chinese brand Tattu, Louis will open in Hardman Square in Spinningfields in the autumn.
It is described as ‘a love letter to the Italian-American restaurants of New York’ and has been incubated over a three-year period, according to PUG.
The menu has been developed and will be overseen by executive chef Ippokratis Anagnostelis, who recently launched Greek restaurant Fenix. He will bring an understanding of how the Mediterranean influence has shaped Italian American cuisine with a concise selection of classic Italian-American dishes.
Head of beverage Will Meredith will create a 12-strong drinks programme which focuses on American classic cocktails.
Louis will open for dinner only and will host a weekly roster of performers from soul singers and pianists, to jazz quartets and full swing bands with the dining room to have a tiered design around the main stage.
Italian-American restaurants are growing in popularity in the UK with recent openings in London including Grasso in Soho, and The Dover in Mayfair. Famed red sauce New York Italian restaurant Carbone is also coming to the capital with a site at The Chancery Rosewood.
