Chelsea-based Mexican restaurant Azteca is extending its presence in the capital with a second restaurant.

Azteca Öme will open on Battersea Rise next month and will serve a Mexican-Japanese fusion menu.

Dishes will build on age-old cooking methods from both Japan and Mexico but with a modern twist using locally sourced British ingredients.

Highlights of the menu will include raw dishes such as tiradito of bream, seaweed crumb, cancha and ponzu; and trout ceviche, jalapeño dressing, lime and chicharron; as well as a selection of tacos including grilled miso cod, pickled daikon, slaw, salsa roja; and maitake mushroom, artichoke puree, salsa negro blackened jalapeno.

Mains, meanwhile, will comprise grilled whole Cornish mackerel with jalapeno, miso dressing; mixed mushroom tobanyaki on the grill, heritage beetroot and carrot, pinto bean, giant corn; leaves, herbs, and sesame peanut dressing.

The venue will have a Cantina restaurant as well as a Veranda outdoor dining space and late night bar La Fiesta as well as a private event area and will have regular DJ performances.

Azteca opened on Chelsea’s King’s Road in 1996.
