Caravan to make regional debut in Manchester
The group has chosen the Northern city’s recently launched St John’s development for what will be its largest location yet.
Close to Aviva Studios, Fenix and Soho House’s yet to open Manchester site, the 10,000 sq ft 200-cover space will house two all day dining rooms, a bar, a private dining room featuring a turntable and private sound system, two outside terraces, a takeout coffee brew bar and a coffee roastery.
Inspired by the trail hiking huts and wool sheds ubiquitous in its founders native New Zealand it will provide a bright, airy space suffused with natural light, natural recycled materials and organic finishes.
Laura Harper-Hinton, Chris Ammermann and chef Miles Kirby have pioneered both all day dining and speciality coffee in the capital.
The trio launched their first Caravan site in London's Exmouth Market in 2009 and have gone on to open a further six Caravan sites in London, a flagship coffee roastery in North London and a separate restaurant in Chelsea; Vardo.
The group opened its largest site yet in Covent Garden late last year.
“We are so excited to be taking Caravan on the road to Manchester, but more importantly, we are really looking forward to spending more time in this incredible city,” says Harper-Hinton.
"We’ve had nothing but great vibes and support from everyone we’ve come across so far. We hope to attract a real cross section of the city to our beautiful new restaurant and roastery.”

"Bringing Caravan to our unique mix at St John’s was an obvious move for us bearing in mind what we are creating, and Caravan will be an operation I am sure Manchester will love... a place where people can come in the morning and stay all day and night."
