Boxpark is focusing on local operators for its upcoming Liverpool site with its opening line-up including Crazy Pedro’s, Yoki Social Table, Pukht and a new concept from the founders of Maray.

Opening to the public on 19 April, Boxpark Liverpool marks the food hall operator’s first venue outside the capital and will be home to eight traders.

In the city’s Brewery Village, Boxpark Liverpool will also be home to Simply Salt N Pepper, SHAKE, Yum Cha and a burrito concept from the team behind Liverpool Mexican restaurant Madre.

Spanning 21,000sq ft and holding 400 internal covers plus 200 external covers, Boxpark Liverpool will also have three internal bars with additional external bars. There will also be a 5,430sq ft garden.

“After months of sampling the best cuisines the North West has to offer, we are delighted to be able to finally announce the eight traders that will join Boxpark Liverpool when we open the doors next month,” CEO Simon Champion.

“We are so impressed with the talent in the city, and we can’t wait to give the traders a platform to expand their businesses and enhance the already impressive food and drink offering the city boasts.”

Revealed by Restaurant earlier this week, the Maray team’s Rose Street Falafel is billed as a homage to the group’s roots in the Marais District of Paris, which is famous for its casual Middle Eastern cuisine.

“The original idea for Maray was a falafel cafe upstairs and a bar downstairs,” says Maray co-founder James Bates. “Long story short, we ended up opening a restaurant but doing something more casual is a scratch we’ve always wanted to itch.”

“It will also allow us to diversify. We went into the pandemic with three restaurants so all our eggs were in one basket. It felt quite risky.”
