It is one of London's most prestigious hotels and oldest hotels, but in September, Claridge's owner Maybourne Hotel Group announced it was time to modernise and extend the five-star property.
Plans include adding 40 more bedrooms and a five-story 'iceberg' basement to include a pool, gym and wine store. Plans are yet to be approved by Westminster City Council.
