Theodore Kyriakou, the former executive chef and CEO of The Greek Larder in King’s Cross, is to open a seafood restaurant in London’s St Katharine Docks next month.

Kyriakou has partnered with Wade Mundford, former general manager and at The Greek Larder and who most recently was group general manager at Jose Pizarro Restaurants, to open The Melusine. Mundford will lead the front of house operations at the restaurant.

Named in honour of a mermaid-like spirit, The Melusine will serve seafood and fish from across the British coast from an open kitchen. Launch dishes on the daily-changing menu will include grilled cuttlefish and fava beans; potted sardines with breakfast radishes and sourdough baguette; crispy skin red mullet, rabbit casserole; and langoustines, spring onion and jalapeno aioli.

It will also serve a selection of whole fish, cooked either poached, grilled or roasted.

There will also be a raw menu featuring rock and native oysters, sea urchins, clams and other items, with combinations including kumamoto oysters served with trout roe and lime; undressed crab with lemon mayonnaise; and cured monkfish with duck breast and salsa verde.

The restaurant will have 40 covers with an additional 20 covers in an outdoor terrace during the summer and will be open seven days a week.

Kyriakou was a head chef and former owner of The Real Greek group of restaurants before founding The Greek Larder in King’s Cross in 2014. He left the restaurant in March 2018 and the restaurant has since closed.
