Fried chicken burger brand Butchies will open its ninth restaurant later this year having secured a new site in London’s Borough Yards.

The restaurant will have 45 covers, including 25 in a covered terrace space and will also offer delivery and click and collect services from the site. It will serve an all-day menu of fried chicken burgers and wings alongside a selection of new specials for winter.

Butchies was founded in 2013 by Garrett Fitzgerald and has expanded over the past 24 months, driven in part by its presence in the delivery and take-away sector. New launches this year in the capital include in Earls Court, Camden and Market Halls Victoria.

It will also open new restaurants in Market Halls Fulham, Market Halls West End, and Ealing Filmworks by the end of the first quarter of 2022.

“It’s been a challenging period trading through lockdowns and all manner of crises but I am proud to say that we have never closed for a single day. All of this is thanks to the brilliant team that we’ve built gradually since launching as a street food stall in Broadway Market all those years ago,” says Fitzgerald.

“It seems amazing that going into the first lockdown we had only one bricks and mortar site and two years later we expect to be trading from nine or even 10 locations in London if a few things go right,” adds Butchies chairman Charlie McVeigh.

This is a huge testament to the hard work and commitment from Garrett and the team, with a special mention for operations manager Ilker Sahinturk, who has been instrumental in creating the strong culture which drives the business forward.”

Hart Group will also be opening new venues at the Borough Yards development, with Barrafina, Parrillan and Bar Daskal due to launch in early 2022.
