Australian chef Roy Ner is to make his UK debut early next month with high-end Middle Eastern-inspired restaurant Jeru.

Set to launch on Mayfair’s Berkeley Street on 2 December, Jeru will be run in partnership with Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group, which operates a number of restaurant brands in Australia including premium steak restaurant 6 HEAD and a Five Guys franchise.

Meaning ‘old city’, Jeru will draw on a number of influences from the Middle East while also championing high quality UK produce.

The space comprises a 15-cover bakery area to the front that will be open all-day from January, a 56-cover main restaurant and a 12-cover wine room that doubles as a PDR.

Downstairs will be 'sophisticated cocktail bar' Layla, which will offer fine wines, spirits and a specialist cocktail menu that combines the flavours of the Middle East with 'high level mixology techniques'.

Jeru's menu is anchored by bread dishes including Yemenite butter bread, whipped curd, heritage tomato pulp; and short rib burnt ends and Persian feta börek.

Other dishes from the launch menu include charcoal octopus, cuttlefish ragu, black spinach, chilli; langoustine murtabak, labneh, chili, smoked eel salsa; charcoal-roast aubergine, macadamia milk, dry-aged smoked lamb; Levantine lobster and prawn dumplings, burnt harissa butter; and hasselback Jerusalem artichokes, goat’s whey, anchovies.

Born in Israel, Ner led Sydney’s ARIA for seven years before striking out on his own to launch Nour. Following a stint in the US collaborating with a number of high profile chefs, Ner returned to Australia to launch ZaZaTa in partnership with the Ovolo Hotel Group.
