Mexican Japanese restaurant Los Mochis will open a second London location next year, at 100 Liverpool Street at Broadgate.

Located on the 9th floor of 100 Liverpool Street, the 14,000sq ft restaurant will have a 3,000sq ft outdoor terrace with views of the City and will be the restaurant group’s flagship venue.

It is due to open in autumn 2023.

Los Mochis was launched in Notting Hill in 2021 by Finland-born UAE restaurateur Markus Thesleff serving a pan-Pacific menu which uniquely blends Mexican and Japanese cuisine. The restaurant is best known for its extensive taco menu that features the likes of the Trailer Park Chicken - fried Chicken, guacamole, jalapeno bbq sauce, habanero gochujang, sesame, parsnip crisps – and Pato Carnitas, featuring teriyaki duck, spring onion, cucumber, habanero-cumin hoisin, pomegranate, and jalapeño-pineapple salsa.

The new restaurant will have a ‘tequileria’ serving one of the largest selections of fine and rare tequilas and mezcals in Europe.

“The success of our debut Los Mochis restaurant in Notting Hill is testament to the appeal of our unique cuisine and experience that we have curated,” says Thesleff.

"We’re excited to be able to translate this success at Broadgate, pairing our Mexican spirit and Japanese elegance with one of London’s prime rooftop settings designed by acclaimed interior designer OV & CO.”

In an interview with BigHospitality last year, Thesleff said the plan was to open three Los Mochis in the capital with “a couple of other very fun projects to come”.

The signing of the restaurant is part of British Land and investor GIC’s 10-year plan to invest £1.5bn in Broadgate. It will join Shiro, the sushi restaurant by Aqua Group that is opening this summer, as well as Eataly London and Revolve, a restaurant that has a monthly rotating line-up of chefs.

“Los Mochis joins a growing line up of dynamic, new generation food and drink concepts at Broadgate. They are an exciting newcomer to the London culinary scene and will cement Broadgate’s reputation as a leading dining destination by adding even more variety and quality to the campus offering,” says Alice Keown, leasing director - restaurants and leisure at British Land.

“This is a flagship letting, providing a stunning new rooftop destination for City workers and visitors to enjoy during the day and in the evening, after work and at weekends.”

British Land was advised by Davis Coffer Lyons and Nash Bond and Los Mochis were advised by Simon Carson of HDH and represented by Dan Sweeney of Addleshaw Goddard LLP.
