Yuma Hashemi, the chef-owner and sommelier behind Clerkenwell restaurant The Drunken Butler, will bring his second venture to east London this March with the opening of a new wine bar.

Emmanuelle will be located directly opposite The Drunken Butler on Rosebury Avenue and is described as being 'more informal' than its Persian sibling, giving Hashemi the space to 'delve deeper into his lifelong passion for exploring small-scale winemakers across the world'.

The bar will hold a total 24 covers available for walk-ins only and serve a menu of French-style charcuterie snacks and Persian-inspired small plates alongside a wine list that incorporates both new and old world wines, natural and biodynamic wines, in addition to an extensive list of champagnes.

Mirroring the offering at The Drunken Butler, which launched in 2017, negroni cocktails will play a prominent part on the drinks list at Emmanuelle with a selection of vintage serves made with gin, vermouth and Campari dating back to the 1950s, 60s and 70s.

Named Emmanuelle after Hashemi's beloved ‘Emmanuelle’ chair, which sits in the dining room of The Drunken Butler, the bar's interior will feature a range of vintage and antique pieces including an identical chair.

Specialist tastings, masterclasses and producer talks will take place throughout the year, with Emmanuelle also intended to provide a pre or post-dinner hangout for The Drunken Butler's guests.
