PizzaExpress reopens Brighton restaurant after two year hiatus

PizzaExpress has reopened its restaurant just south of Brighton’s North Laine area after a two-year hiatus that saw another operator acquire the space.

The large Jubilee Street site was shuttered in January 2021 as part of a wave of pandemic-related closures for the group before eventually being taken on by Thai restaurant Lime Squeezy.

The restaurant closed late last year after just six month's trading.

Lime Squeezy’s inaugural site along the coast in Chichester closed early this year spelling the end for the brand, which had been conceived as a faster-paced sibling to its stable mate Giggling Squid.

PizzaExpress reopened the site last week with a promotion that saw 250 pizzas given away free to PizzaExpress app users.

The glass-fronted site (pictured above in its first iteration) has undergone a refit with design details including leafy green wallpaper, bright tiling, festoon lighting and the brand’s signature open pizza kitchen.

The reopening brings PizzaExpress back up to a total of four sites in Brighton and Hove, with the group also operating restaurants in the nearby South Lanes, within Brighton Marina and on Hove’s Church Road.
