Pizza Union, the Roman-style pizza bar from Babby Hashemi, is looking for new sites across central London, and negotiating on a few potential locations.

The six-strong group posted sales of £8m in 2022, up 43% year-on-year, according to accounts filed to Companies House

Pizza Union is backed by Hashemi’s Union Ventures, and has a quick service-style counter model serving thin crispy pizza, with prices starting at £4.95.

It opened its first site in Sandy's Row, Spitalfields, back in 2013.

Pizza Union opened its more recent restaurant in Holborn in January last year, and continues to build brand awareness across existing sites in central London.

During the 2022 period, sales were on an improving trajectory as the return to the office took momentum.

The business maintained focus on managing costs of goods and the challenging inflationary environment. However, this cost environment and the removal of pandemic support resulted in a loss before tax of £368,000, including an impairment of £344,000.

As a results, the business posted a loss before tax of £433,000, which compares to a profit before tax of £105,000 the year before.

Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) was £372,000.
