Blacklock becomes a B Corp
Following an 18 month assessment process, Blacklock joins a global community of businesses ‘striving to prioritise purpose over profit’.
B Corp businesses are certified by non-profit global organisation, B Lab, and are audited on their commitment to bring benefit not only to shareholders but also their stakeholders as well, including their staff, customers, communities, supply chain and the planet.
Blacklock - which was founded in Soho in 2015 - announced that it was looking to become a B Corp ahead of the opening of its Covent Garden site in 2021.
“When we first heard about B Corp back in lockdown it immediately resonated with us and how we do things which puts our people at the heart of everything, seeking to be a brilliant place to work first and foremost and have a positive impact more widely whilst running great restaurants,” says founder Gordon Ker.
The journey to becoming certified has been both rigorous and rewarding, rubber stamping where we are doing well and shining a light on where we can improve. Certification is really just the start. We’re far from perfect and I’m excited (if a little apprehensive!) about the community of inspiring businesses we’re joining and the opportunities that lie ahead to be a part of something bigger.”
Blacklock now has restaurants in Soho, The City, Shoreditch, Covent Garden and Canary Wharf.
