Claude Bosi and his wife Lucy will launch their first joint venture early next year – a new neighbourhood-style French bistro in London’s Fulham.

Named after Claude’s late grandmother, Josephine is described as being ‘reminiscent of the traditional bouchons’ found in the chef’s hometown of Lyon.

Taking over the former Colette site on the corner of Callow Street and Fulham Road, the restaurant’s menu will feature French bistro classics and regional Lyonnaise specialities.

The wine offering will tie in with the classical French style, offering Bouchon-inspired metre wine that allows guests to only pay for what they drink and thus encourage them to try something new.

Holding 76 covers, the dining room has been designed by Fabled Studio and will draw inspiration from Lyon’s historic bouchons and the city’s cultural heritage.

“We're incredibly excited to bring a little piece of Lyon to Fulham with the opening of Josephine,” says Claude.

“This restaurant is a very personal project for us, an ode to my grandmother and the traditional bouchons of Lyon that have always held a special place in our hearts.

“With Josephine, we hope to create a welcoming space that we hope locals, Londoners, and friends from afar will want to keep coming back to.

“We can't wait to open our doors and share this special restaurant with the community.”

Hospitality stalwart Will Smith, previously of Arbutus and Wild Honey, will join the restaurant as general manager, working alongside Claude and Lucy.

The announcement of Josephine follows a busy year for Claude Bosi, whose flagship London restaurant Claude Bosi at Bibendum holds two Michelin stars.

Back in February he launched contemporary Mediterranean restaurant Socca in Mayfair in partnership with restaurateur Samyukta Nair.

He followed this last month with the opening of Brooklands at The Peninsula London.
