Sushi maestro Endo Kazutoshi’s new restaurant at The OWO in London’s Whitehall will be called Kioku by Endo and is set to launch in the spring.

The restaurant, which is a partnership between Kazutoshi and Misha Zelman’s Creative Restaurant Group, is billed as a ‘unique Japanese restaurant that also intertwines a hint of Mediterranean cuisine influence’.

“Kioku, meaning ‘memory’ will combine all the important memories that I have together in one place,” explains Kazutoshi.

“The experiences and events I have encountered throughout my personal and professional journey are very important to me. A reflection of my life and the passion I developed throughout my travels in Yokohama, Tokyo and Spain in particular, moments that resonate with me in a way and that will have huge influence in what we will bring to Kioku at The OWO.”

Located on the rooftop of The OWO, Kioku by Endo will feature a 55-seat main dining room; an eight seat chef’s table overlooking the kitchen; an eight seat private dining room within one of the building’s turret’s, which features 360-degree views of the capital; and a 55-cover outside terrace.

Alongside the restaurant, there will also be a 25-cover Kioku Bar located on the on the ground floor at The OWO.

Modelled on traditional Japanese listening bars, with a record player playing a mix of tracks selected by guests, the Kioku Bar will feature a robust sake programme overseen by sake samurai Natsuki Kikuya.

The OWO houses the UK’s first Raffles Hotel and launched in September last year. The hotel already features several other high-profile restaurants including Mauro Colagreco at The OWO; Paper Moon; and Café Lapérouse.

“London is arguably the culinary capital of the world, with some of the best global talents choosing this city for their next openings, including recent openings at The OWO,” says Alex D’Aguiar, managing director Creative Restaurant Group

“Our new openings at The OWO will create something that is new, innovative and represents what we do best, having the opportunity to open a rooftop restaurant and bar at The OWO is a real privilege for us.”

Kazutoshi also runs the Michelin-starred Endo at the Rotunda in Shepherd’s Bush, as well as Sumi in Notting Hill.
