Michelin Guide 2024 deletions: Hakkasan loses Michelin stars at both London restaurants

Both of Hakkasan’s London restaurants have had their Michelin stars deleted in the little red book’s Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2024.

Hakkasan’s flagship restaurant on Hanway Place recently celebrated 20 years of retaining a Michelin star, but has now lost its accolade, as has the group’s restaurant in Mayfair.

A total of 18 restaurants have lost their star in the latest Guide, the majority as a result of having closed in the last year.

They include Michel Roux Jr’s Le Gavroche in Mayfair, which closed last month; and Michael O'Hare’s Leeds restaurant The Man Behind The Curtain, which is preparing to relaunch under a new concept called Psycho Sandbar.

However, several operating restaurants have also had their stars deleted.

Alongside Hakkasan, London restaurants Barrafina Dean Street and Leroy in Shoreditch have both lost their stars.

Outside of the capital, meanwhile, Peter Sanchez-Iglesias’ Paco Tapas in Bristol and Paul Foster’s Salt in Stratford-upon-Avon have also seen their stars deleted.

All operating restaurants to lose their stars continue to be 'recommended' by the Guide.

Yesterday’s (5 February) Michelin star revelation ceremony saw Brett Graham’s Notting Hill restaurant The Ledbury become the ninth restaurant in the Great Britain & Ireland Guide to be awarded three stars.

A further six new two Michelin star restaurants were announced, alongside 18 new one star restaurants.

Additionally, six restaurants received a Michelin Green Star, which highlights those at the forefront of the industry when it comes to their sustainable practices.
