Devon-based artisan crisp brand Burts Chips has unveiled two new additions to its range of hand-cooked crisps, which will be available to foodservice businesses across the UK in May.

Product details:

Following the recent change of look for the Burts Chips range, the company has launched the two new flavours, Spicy Chorizo and Red Pepper & Jalapeño.

The flavours have been released in line with research from our sister title, The Grocer, which revealed that food sales within the ‘hot sauce’ category are up 15 per cent.

Spicy Chorizo and Red Pepper & jalapeño will join seven other flavours in the Burts Chips range, that have recently been voted best in class by consumers: Sea Salt, Vintage Cheddar & Spring Onion, Sea Salt & Malted Vinegar, Sea Salt & Crushed Peppercorns, Pesto, Firecracker Lobster and Thai Sweet Chilli.

USP:

The new Burts Chips products are flavoured using natural ingredients that are sourced locally, in line the brand’s commitment to provenance and quality. The chilles that are used to add heat to Spicy Chorizo are sourced from the Devon Chilli Farm, for example.

These values are communicated on-pack with the master fryer that hand-cooked each packet - whether it’s Roddy, Felix or Richard - printed on the reverse, as well as the name of the field where the potatoes came from.

Availability: Red Pepper and Jalapeño and Spicy Chorizo are due for launch in May, to make an order please contact Burts Chips on 0800 023 7404.

Why you should by them:

Leane Bramhall, marketing director at Burts Chips, said: “The new flavours have been months in development at the Burts factory in Plymouth. We’ve focused on perfecting the authenticity of flavour, using valuable customer feedback to make alterations to the taste to ensure that the products prove a hit with consumers.

“Since re-launching our packaging and website in Januray we’ve been overwhelmed by the great response and so we are confident that Spicy Chorizo and Red Pepper & jalapeño will prove a big hit with consumers.”
