Celebrated French chef Yannick Alléno is bringing his Michelin-starred Pavyllon restaurant to London next year.

The chef hopes to open the counter restaurant in Mayfair next summer. It will become the third outpost for his Pavyllon concept, which has sites in Paris and Monte-Carlo.

The first Pavyllon opened in October in 2019 and is described as a ‘gastronomic counter’. The Paris restaurant has 52 seats, 32 of which are located around a large counter facing an open kitchen where diners are served food by the chefs.

Dishes are grounded in French cuisine but have an international feel with some cooked on a teppanyaki grill and others with influences from Nordic and Italian cooking.

Born in Puteaux, just outside Paris, Alléno is one of France’s most celebrated chefs. In 1999 he won his first Michelin star, followed by a second in 2002, at the kitchens at Scribe. In 2003 he took over the kitchens at Le Meurice and was awarded two Michelin stars the next year, later winning a third star in 2007.

In 2014 he took over Pavillon Ledoyen in Paris, where he opened Alléno Paris. Seven months later the restaurant it was awarded three Michelin stars and has previously been included on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants List.

Alléno is one of a number of chefs who have appeared in the World’s 50 Best Restaurant list to be opening in London in the coming months. Chef Mauro Colagreco, whose restaurant Mirazur has previously topped the list, is set make his UK debut later this year with a brace of restaurants and ‘avante garde chef’s table’ at upcoming Whitehall hotel Raffles London At The OWO.

Swedish chef Björn Frantzén, whose restaurant is currently ranked as the 25th best in the world, will also make his UK debut this year with a restaurant in Harrods.
