Classic Cuisine has extended its range of savoury pastry products with the addition of four new pies which all feature flavoured pastries. 

Product details:

Classic Cuisine offers a selection of traditional pies but has extended the range with the addition of several 'innovative' savoury pastry products.

The new pies include:

  • Hot potted turkey and cranberry pie with a sage and onion pastry
  • Hot potted lamb pie with rhubarb chutney in a minted rosemary pastry
  • Chicken tikka pie topped with Bombay potatoes in a turmeric and onion seeded pastry
  • Vegetarian tikka pie with peppers, aubergines, onions, red lentils and spinach encased within a turmeric and coriander pastry. 

Paul Hunt, new product development chef at Classic Cuisine, said the new pies followed research by Mintel which suggested that the pies and pasties market is expected to grow and reach £1,123m by 2017: "At Classic Cuisine, innovation comes from thinking outside the box and because we hand finished our dishes we have more flexibility than our competitors. We can also make adjustments to our pastry and add individual components to each pie, making each one totally unique.

"Our most popular pies are the potted pork with piccalilli, steak and ale and our fish pie. We also provide pies in kit form, for example we have several customers taking our luxury fish pie with the sauce and the topping separately pouched. This allows the client to assemble the dish in house where they can make the product look individual, this is also ideal for clients who have multi-branded outlets as it allows them to produce a pie that looks and tastes home made," he added.
