Vegan restaurant Mallow will open a site in Canary Wharf this summer bringing its total number of restaurants in the capital up to two.

The fully-vegan spin-off brand from the team behind plant-based restaurant group Mildreds launched in Borough Market in 2021.

Located in Wood Wharf near restaurants including Hawksmoor and Dishoom, the new site will serve 150 covers, 100 inside across two floors and 50 across an outdoor terrace.

Design elements from Borough Market will be seen throughout the new site creating a modern, light and airy feel on the ground floor level alongside a moody and intimate dining space upstairs.

Head of food development for Mallow and Mildreds, Sarah Wasserman, will continue to lead on the menu creation, combining hero dishes from Borough Market alongside new additions exclusive to Wood Wharf.

New dishes will include spinach dahi puri served with lime, coconut sambol and blackcurrant tamarind chutney and aubergine muhamammara borek plated with green tabouleh, smoked aubergine cream and ezme.

“Canary Wharf is a thriving, social and sustainable community where people live and work,” says managing director Sam Anstey.

“It felt like the perfect location to open a second mallow restaurant, we’re proud to be opening amongst some of London’s most iconic restaurants bringing a vibrancy to the local area.”

Founded in 1988, Mildreds currently operates a total of six restaurants under its core brand, which was originally vegetarian but switched to being exclusively plant-based in recent years.
