Ben Tynan, head chef, Quills
QHotels has appointed Ben Tynan as the new head chef of Quills, the restaurant at its Stratford-Upon-Avon hotel, The Stratford.
Tynan, 28, has a wealth of experience in the catering industry, having previously worked at The Hyatt Regency Birmingham and Walton Hall. In his new role he will be securing relationships with local suppliers and creating exciting, affordable dishes for the local people of Warwickshire.
He said: “I have many ideas for The Stratford’s food offering and with the wealth of high-quality local suppliers on our doorstep I am looking forward to coming up with a menu that really makes the most of this and champions the local area as Mecca for fresh ingredients."
“I can’t wait to get my teeth into my new role, I love giving people new culinary experiences, and creating dishes using innovative techniques to deliver meals that guests wouldn’t usually make themselves. My favourite dish from the new menu I have created for Quills is the Red Wine Braised Ox Cheek Risotto, cheek is not a cut of meat that people tend to cook at home and I think the element of ‘new’ makes dining out a special occasion like it used to be.”
General Manager, Annie Brown commented: “We are really excited to have Ben join our team; he is full of energy and passion and is focussed on building the reputation of Quills as a restaurant in its own right. Ben has some impressive experience and having tasted his new spring menu, I can safely say that he is a highly skilled, creative chef.”
The Stratford, one of only eight hotels in the UK to have been awarded a Gold Standard award by venue verdict for service and quality, is a quintessentially English hotel, ideally located for a relaxing getaway, surrounded by beautiful Warwickshire countryside yet only minutes from the M40.
